Who Can Participate

  • Age Requirement:
    • Minimum 12 years
  • First-timers are welcome, though prior trekking experience is preferred. Good fitness is a must.
  • Fitness Criteria:
    • The Trekker should have sufficient stamina to cover 5 km of distance by jogging in 33 minutes without stress or 10 km of distance in 75 minutes without stress
    • If the trekker prefers cycling he/she should be able to cycle 15 km of distance in 45 minutes.
  • If the trekker wants to carry a backpack then he/she should be able to carry a 10-12 kg backpack. If opt Off-load option then the trekker should be able to carry 3-5 kg backpack.
  • If a trekker’s BMI is more or less than the normal range (18-28), please consult our Trek Coordinator before booking.

Itinerary

Day-1: Manali To Chhika Via Jobra | Walk Through Forest Cover

  • Altitude:
    Manali – 2,100 m / 6,400 ft
    Jobra – 2,800 m / 9,100 ft
    Chhika- 3,100 m / 10,100 ft.
  • Drive Distance (Manli to Jobra): 16km | 1hr.
  • Trek Distance (Jobra to Chhika):  3km | 2hrs.
  • Reporting Time: 12:00 PM  Drop Time: 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm (Timings are subject to change based on weather and road conditions). Please reach Manali a day before to avoid any kind of delays.

Day-2: Chhika To Balu Ka Ghera | Stay At A Beautiful Campsite

  • Altitude: 3,600 m/ 11,800 ft.
  • Trek Distance: 6-7km | 5-6 hrs.

Day-3: Balu Ka Ghera To Shea Goru | Panoramic Mountain Views

  • Altitude: Hampta Pass – 4,300 m / 14,100 ft | Shea Goru- 3,900 m/ 12,900 ft
  • Trek Distance: 7 km | Duration: 10 hr
  • Altitude Gain: 520 m/ 1,700 ft.

Day-4: Shea Goru To Chatru And Drive To Chandratal | Bask In the Serenity Of The Lake

  • Altitude: Chatru- 3,350 m / 11,000 ft.
  • Trek Distance: 7 km | Duration: 5 hr.
  • Drive Distance: 50 km, 3-4 hr to Chandratal and back to the campsite, either on day 4 or day 5 (depending on road and weather conditions).

Day-5: Chatru To Manali | Bid Adieu To The Mountains

  • Drive Distance: 65 km | Duration: 5-6 hr.
  • Note:
    You can visit Chandratal if road and weather condition permits us. If not, you will have to drive directly from Chatru to Manali and skip Chandratal altogether.

  • If buffer day is not used in the travel then it can be used to Explore Manali.
  • Distance, Altitude, and Trekking hours are approximate and rounded off.

Day 1: Manali to Chhika via Jobra

  • Altitude: Manali – 2,100 m / 6,400 ft | Jobra – 2,800 m / 9,100 ft | Chhika – 3,100 m / 10,100 ft
  • Drive Distance: 16 km | 1 hour
  • Trek Distance: 3 km | 2 hours
  • Stay: Camps

Your journey begins in Manali, from where you drive to Jobra through scenic mountain roads and the beautiful Kullu Valley. Jobra serves as the starting point of the Hampta Pass Trek.

The short trek from Jobra to Chhika passes through dense forests of pine, maple, oak, and deodar trees. The trail follows the banks of Rani Nallah and gradually opens into wide meadows surrounded by mountains.

By evening you reach Chhika, a beautiful campsite set in a lush green clearing with the Rani River flowing nearby. Tents are pitched here for the night.

Day 2: Trek from Chhika to Balu Ka Ghera

  • Altitude: 3,600 m / 11,800 ft
  • Trek Distance: 6–7 km | 5–6 hours
  • Altitude Gain: 700 m
  • Stay: Camps

Today’s trek leads from Chhika to the campsite of Balu Ka Ghera. The trail gradually ascends along the river valley through rocky terrain and beautiful alpine landscapes.

Along the route you will cross small streams, patches of wildflowers, and sections lined with dwarf rhododendron trees and silver birch forests. The views of the snow-covered Dhauladhar range begin to open up as you gain altitude.

Balu Ka Ghera is a wide valley surrounded by towering mountains. The campsite sits on a flat patch of land where trekkers rest and prepare for the pass crossing the following day.

Day 3: Trek from Balu Ka Ghera to Shea Goru via Hampta Pass

  • Hampta Pass Altitude: 4,300 m / 14,100 ft
  • Shea Goru Altitude: 3,900 m / 12,900 ft
  • Trek Distance: 7 km | 9–10 hours
  • Stay: Camps

This is the most exciting day of the trek as you cross the Hampta Pass. The climb begins with gradual slopes that eventually lead to steeper sections as you approach the pass.

From the top of Hampta Pass you are rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks including Indrasen Peak and the barren landscapes of the Spiti Valley.

After spending some time at the pass, the trail descends steeply towards Shea Goru. The campsite lies beside a river in a remote valley surrounded by snow-covered mountains.

Day 4: Trek from Shea Goru to Chatru – Drive to Chandratal (Optional)

  • Altitude: Chatru – 3,350 m / 11,000 ft
  • Trek Distance: 7 km | 5 hours
  • Drive Distance: 50 km to Chandratal (depending on road conditions)
  • Stay: Camps

Today’s trail descends gradually from Shea Goru to Chatru. The path runs alongside the river valley and crosses rocky sections and glacier streams.

As the trek progresses the landscape changes dramatically, with barren mountains and the Chandra River visible below. After reaching Chatru, trekkers may take a drive to Chandratal Lake if weather and road conditions allow.

Chandratal, also known as the “Moon Lake,” is famous for its stunning blue waters and spectacular mountain surroundings.

Day 5: Drive from Chatru to Manali

  • Drive Distance: 65 km | 5–6 hours

After breakfast, you begin the return journey from Chatru to Manali. The drive follows scenic mountain roads through high-altitude landscapes and the Rohtang Pass region.

By afternoon you reach Manali, marking the end of the Hampta Pass Trek. The journey concludes with unforgettable memories of alpine meadows, high mountain passes, and dramatic Himalayan landscapes.

When you have firmly decided to undertake the Tour with New Knight Adventure, you will need to book the trip with us. We must allocate enough time to prepare, obtain necessary documents and permits, and book hotels and Transport for the trip.

50% Amount one month prior of arrival in India

Cancellation Policy:

• If the cancellation is made 30 days before the tour starts, 25% of the full payment will be deducted and 75% will be refunded.
• If the cancellation is made 20 days before the tour start, 35% of the full payment will be deducted and 65% will be refunded
• If the cancellation is made 10 days before the tour start, 80% will be deducted and 20% will be refunded.
• No refund is made if the trip is cancelled after the departure for Expedition.
